You Are Here: Rediscovery Activities

At Pacifica, We Do Activities RIGHT

Pacifica Senior Living Paradise Valley’s Quality of Life Activities Program goes far beyond narrowly-defined activity programs that provide little more than passive entertainment. Instead, our focus is on “rediscovering” each resident’s remaining abilities and helping them to connect with the things they can do, rather than reminding them of those they cannot.

The Right Types of Activities
Our Quality of Life Activities Program is centered on three components of everyday life: Career & Work; Leisure & Play; and Personal Care.

The Right Time of Day
Careful consideration is given to the timing of activities at Encore Senior Village, based on research of the brain functions of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other related memory impairments.

Morning: In the morning, when brain is well-rested and thinking is clearest, activities involve fine motor skills, exercise and high cognitive stimulation.

Afternoon: In the afternoon, we ease into moderate to low cognitive stimulation, social interaction games and relaxation and leisure activities.

Evening: In the evening, when things are winding down, residents enjoy sensory and reminiscing activities.

The Right Type of Setting
Within each of our cottages, small groups of residents with similar abilities live together. These cottages serve as the main venue for our daily Quality of Life Activities Program, and the activities planned for each cottage are specifically geared to the ability level of those residents. We create natural, familiar activities that enhance and build self-esteem.
