How do you know what is the right care or housing for you or a loved one? The multitude of options and care environments can be overwhelming to families. Here are some helpful tips to help you on your journey.

Types of Care:

Alzheimer’s Care Facilities refers to senior care communities that specialize in caring for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia or related memory impairments. Assisted Living Facilities provide supervision or assistance with activities of daily living; coordination of services by outside health care providers; and monitoring of resident activities to help to ensure their health and well-being. Continuing Care Retirement Community also known as a life-care community, is a type of retirement community where a number of aging care needs, from assisted living, independent living and nursing home care, may all be met in a single residence, whether apartment or enclosed unit. Many of these communities require a large move-in fee.

Independent Living Community refers to residence where seniors age 55 and older are able to get around on their own and need no or little help with daily activities. Read more about Encore’s Independent Living programs and services.

Skilled Nursing Facility / Nursing Home provide a type of care for residents who require constant nursing care and have significant deficiencies with activities of daily living. Residents include the elderly and younger adults with physical or mental disabilities.
