Encore Senior Village at Tucson is holding its annual Chili Cook-Off November 16th with the help of the Tucson Fire Department volunteers.

Encore’s chili cook-off theme this year is, “The Best Chili in the West.” The goal of the event is to allow each resident with memory impairment to use the skills that they have to recreate familiar activities from their past.

Residents and the caregiving staff at Encore Senior Village will team up at the cook-off judged according to the cottage they live in. Residents live in cottages of 12 to 14 people. Twelve recipes generated from residents, staff and families will be judged by the Tucson Fire Department volunteers. All recipes will also be available for sampling by residents, staff, family members and the media. All residents will be recognized, with the winning cottage receiving a fun trophy to display all year long.
