Encore Senior Village gives back to the community with an activity-based program

The ongoing economic crisis story is filled with stories of jobs being lost, community programs and student activities being cut or reduced. Recognizing the importance of activities and their impact on seniors and students, the staff at specialized memory care community Encore Senior Village at Tucson decided to take action.

Encore hosts four major events each year for the residents of the community to enjoy. This year, Encore wanted to find a way to give back and to highlight the importance activities have on students and the community-at-large.

To keep children involved in meaningful activities and to offset the budget cuts in education, Encore has invited the Apollo Middle School mariachi band to perform at its annual Cinco de Mayo celebration on April 25th. The mariachi band currently performs with only their instruments. At the event, Encore Senior Village will present the students with sombreros, scarves and a donation towards the purchase of mariachi uniforms.
